Cash, and why it is still cash

It leaves no statement entry. The most practical reason. A card payment appears somewhere, under some merchant name, on something somebody else might see.

It settles at the door. There is nothing outstanding afterwards, no invoice, no chasing.

It is what she has asked for. Nearly every escort prefers it, and turning up with something else is asking her to solve a problem she did not create.

Withdraw it in advance rather than on the way, and not from a machine next to where you are going.

How to hand it over, which is to say: do not

Leave it somewhere she can see it. On the side, on the table, by the kettle. In an envelope or folded, counted beforehand.

She will not count it in front of you and neither of you will mention it again. That is the point of the convention: handing over cash makes the transaction the first thing that happens, while leaving it visible means it has already happened by the time you say hello.

Get the amount right

These are the reliable signs that something is wrong, and they are worth knowing precisely:

Tipping

Not expected and never assumed. If an evening was genuinely good and you want to, it is welcome, handled the same way as the rate. Nobody thinks less of anybody who does not.
